Eco-Friendly and Zero Waste
What’s the difference between degradable and bio-degradable? Do eco-friendly and environmentally friendly mean the same thing? What’s recyclable, and what the hell is a carbon footprint?!
With so much information about the possible environmental qualities of different products and services, sometimes it’s hard to understand the difference, why they’re important, and why you should care. As a retailer, you may try to impact the environment as little as possible, even if it isn’t always possible. And since we work with retailers like yourself, the things you worry about - we worry about too.
So to help lift the veil on the eco-friendly world, and to give you the confidence to choose services and products that align with your eco-friendly desires, our team thought it would be a fantastic idea to provide you with details of what each individual point means.
Culture
As a company we like to think of ourselves as one big family and as such we work hard to provide an internal environment that is both encouraging and supportive. We also stay involved in the evolution of our industry by sponsoring the UK's Young Fashion Designer Award and the Creative Retail Awards' annual Student Award.
Buying
While many of our products are sourced from the UK, many others are sourced from Europe, India and others. Due to the differing regulations, we send our own product managers to witness the working conditions and environments first hand to ensure that they not only meet the UK regulation standards for health and safety, but also waste, pollution and worker safety.
Products
We make a concerted effort to offer a wide range of eco-friendly products, which you can buy these in bulk with a clear conscience. Some of our products are recyclable or made from recycled materials; you can find these on our website, in store and in our catalogues.

Void Fill
We use inflated pillows made from degradable plastic as our packaging void fill. Even though this is not an ideal, we are still researching alternative methods for protecting our packages. From starch pellets, that biodegrade naturally and disintegrate in water, to sustainably sourced paper fill. February 2020, marked the use of biodegradable pellet shaped void fill.
Delivery
We pay close attention to the efforts of selected companies. For example, we use UPS, a worldwide delivery service that offer a Carbon Neutral program. Using technology, UPS are able to eliminate excess mileage and create reductions in fuel and emissions.
Waste
As of 2020, we are officially a zero landfill company with all of our business and industry waste being recycled or incinerated. We achieved this by reducing our consumption of metal, plastic, cardboard and paper waste.
Less of an impact
Many of our products are sourced sustainably, but it's important for us to always be evolving and improving our range of products that can be recycled, are made from reclaimed or recycled materials, or even biodegradable. You'll find a sample of these products below.
